SINGAPORE: A Gallup poll said Singaporeans are the least positive, after the same poll found Singaporeans to be the world's most emotionless people.
Last year, international pollster Gallup measured positive emotions of 1000 people in 148 countries and areas using five questions.
They asked people questions such as whether they experienced a lot of enjoyment the day before the survey, whether they felt respected, well-rested, laughed and smiled a lot, and did or learned something interesting.
Singapore topped the list of countries where the fewest adults experienced positive emotions.
The poll found Singaporeans to be less positive than those in Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan.
Singaporeans rank fifth in the world in terms of GDP per capita.
Latin Americans are the most positive people in the world, with residents in Panama and Paraguay among the most likely to report experiencing positive emotions.
Residents of Panama rank 90th in the world with respect to GDP per capita.
Gallup says these data may surprise analysts and leaders who solely focus on traditional economic indicators.
